Lorri B.’s “Hair and Makeup philosophy”

DSC01065 Make-up Philosophy

  • All make-up applications should fit the clients needs. Whether it be a bride, model, or an everyday women.
  • Make-up was designed to enhance and accentuate the positive while diminishing any flaws.
  • This is done with technique – not heavy make-up.
  • Make-up is meant to bring out any eye color or shape, as well as to soften features you may not feel as confident about; color selection, contour and highlighting in all the right places help make that happen.
  • You need to feel yourself, but look better than you could ever imagine.
  • The cakey look and feel is outdated; the latest look is very light with a nice glow to the skin.
  • Although every women has her own interpretation of different looks, Lorri believes in working with the client and finding her needs and what she desires to determine the final outcome.
  • Satisfaction is the most important aspect, and will be the final factor in completion of the make-up application.

DSC01067 Hair Philosophy

  • There are many factors that go into choosing the appropriate hairstyle; the most important of these will be the weather conditions you are going to be in, and how to make the hairstyle the most durable.
  • Women know what they like and don’t like; we have visions of how we want to see ourselves. Lorri’s job is understanding you and bringing out ideas and looks you will feel both comfortable and confident with.
  • Lorri believes in being honest and helping you understand why a particular hairstyle may not be the most flattering or have the longevity you desire.
  • Lorri takes pride in her work and you are her advertising, therefore she is not done until perfection is achieved.

What is airbrush makeup?

How is airbrushing applied and what exactly does it do?

Airbrushed make-up sprays on. A spray that mists out foundation that suddenly makes your skin seem flawless. It’s actually thousands of tiny little dots so your skin glows through. It’s never a heavy or cakey finish or texture. It is as natural as you want with unbelievable coverage. It lays on top of your skin and fills in any flaws, instead of accentuating them. Airbrush make-up is also water based, non-toxic and hypoallergenic. It’s also sanitary – more so than using sponges or other make-up applicators that germs can be attracted to.

The last thing you need to worry about is your make-up wearing off on your wedding day. Airbrush make-up will last until you wash your face. So you can do as much cheek to cheek dancing as you’d like without worrying about your make-up rubbing off.

Rest assured while you’re receiving all those hugs and kisses from your friends and relatives, you’ll still look as fresh as you did after your first kiss. Imagine that!

Airbrush is a revolutionary new make-up technique with precision control. It is used to create flawless and more radiant skin tones in a way that brushes and sponges can’t. It gives longer lasting results, natural looking illuminating skin with a luxurious velvety finish. You can wear this make-up for up to 16 hours and it will not come off until you wash your face. Airbrushing holds up extremely well to humid conditions. Because of these characteristics, it is recommended for brides and other active individuals. Film and television make-up artists have been airbrushing for over a decade. Because of its flawless finish, it is the only technique used with high definition television. Airbrush make-up provides a camera-ready texture.

The list of celebrities, politicians and news anchors who use airbrush make-up is endless. Airbrushing was the official make-up of the 55th Emmy awards. It’s also the best and most natural way to cover scars, bruising, blemishes, tattoos, rosacea, burns and even psoriasis.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Should I wash my hair before my appointment?

A:You don’t need to unless you have oily hair; then it’s necessary. It is true about what they say about day old hair. It stays better. In the nd it is what you feel comfortable with. Please have hair dry before my arrival unless discussed receiving a blow-dry.

Q: Should I Condition or use any products in my hair?

A:If necessary to comb out hair, then yes. But do not put conditioner at your scalp. This will only make hair too soft and silky, and will not hold up as well.

Q: What should I do to prepare if I have shorter hair or a blow-dry style?

A: If you’re looking for a blow-dry style, either for short, long or even curly hair, please have your hair washed and still wet, so it can be dried and styled right away. No worries if the hair begins to dry before I get to dry it. We can simply wet the hair down a little.

Q: What if my skin is sensitive to make-up?

A: The make-up I use is hypoallergenic and non comedigenic. If you have any real concerns or allergic to many products feel free to bring your products that work on your skin that make you feel most comfortable.

Q: Will I need to touch up anything?

A: If your oily I suggest a compact or blotting papers. A simple lip gloss for your lips for touch up for later on in the night is a plus too. If you might need more I am available for for touch-ups priced by the hour.

Q: What if I have a certain makeup product thst I perfer to use?

A: Not a problem. Just have them available that day.

Q: Would it help if I brought some pictures?

A: Absolutely. Pictures for hair and make-up are great. Although I am very good at understanding what you’re thinking and taking into consideration what will look best on you. Pictures can say exactly what you desire and make sure we are on the same page.

Q: How soon should I start to get ready?

A: Well, we have to take into consideration if you plan on having pictures taken before hand, and if so, the location of the photo shoot, travel time and getting dressed all should be factored in. I would recommend to give yourself no more than 45 minutes in between. Through the years, it seems the more time you have, the more nerves come out. You need to be as relaxed as possible and the day should just flow.

Q: When should I have my hair colored before the wedding?

A: Depending on when you come to Key West, I usually recommend 7-10 days before hand. That way it’s not last minute and if there is something you need to have changed, I can also recommend someone locally in the Key West area if it would be more convenient. If that is not an option or you just are not happy with your hair cut or color please contact me and we can make an appointment for you.

Q:My eyebrows are pretty full. Should I have them cleaned up?

A: Yes. this will open your eyes up and your make-up will look even better. Please do this a few times so you get used to which ever hair removal procedure you use. Some people have different reactions. Please research out a good technician in your area. Eyebrow arching is an art and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Q: How long will it take to get ready?

A: It’s your big day! We don’t want to rush. You deserve all my attention. To provide ample time for the look you deserve for your hair and make-up will take between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Any additional services for family and friends can be determined at a later time.

Q: What should I do to myself to prepare for your arrival?

A: Have your hair blown dried and ready to be curled or put up. Your face should be cleansed and moisturized. Try to wear a button-down top, or something easily taken off that won’t affect your hair or make-up when you take it off.

Q: What are the benefits to using airbrushing?

A: Airbrush is incredible!!  I use a waterproof formula so it will hold up to humidity and tears. It is extremely lightweight so, you don’t feel that you even have anything on. Which is exactly what you want especially if you have a summer wedding.  You will look flawless in pictures. This is a definite favorite with photographers! This makeup is put on as light or as heavy as needed. So, weather you are a bride who wants top be as natural as can be or if you have problem skin you will be happy
